Increasing the body temperature by several degrees induces a kind of artificial fever, which is able to burn up a lot of wastes, just as with a natural fever. In this regard, we cannot help remembering a statement made by Parmenides, the father of metaphysics: ‘Give me the power to induce fever and I shall cure every illness.’
Indeed, more healing can be done through increasing the body temperature than is generally thought possible. By raising the temperature to 40 or 41°C (104—105.8°F), disease-causing agents that are sensitive to heat will be destroyed. Regular Schlenz baths will have an effect on sensitive tumour cells or tissue, since they do not tolerate heat very well. Those who suffer from metabolic and circulatory disorders will benefit from a weekly Schlenz bath, as will anyone who has problems with the skin function and lymphatic glands, or who suffers from skin eruptions and eczema. In the case of all these disorders and ailments, regular Schlenz baths can lead to a complete cure.
When you first start, a Schlenz bath should last only half an hour. In time, you can increase the duration to two hours. In cases of obesity it is advisable to add sea salt, brine or a good bath salt to the bath water, in addition to the herbs. An attendant should use a tough brush to vigorously brush down the patient’s entire body once or twice during the bath. This has the same effect as an underwater massage and stimulates the capillaries. It removes congestions, and any unpleasant feeling of constriction will disappear.
